2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration Celebrating 220 Years of the Blessings of Liberty
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The 2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration Constitution Day is September 17th, the anniversary of the signing of the US Constitution. This September 17th is the 220th anniversary of that fateful day when 40 American men signed the document that would change the world forever. To celebrate this triumphant anniversary, Liberty Day is sponsoring an event on Saturday, September 15th, 2007 called the "2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration." Organized by a teenager himself, 17-year-old Grandview High School Senior Jimmy Sengenberger, this exciting celebratory event promises to be fun, educational, interactive, and entertaining. [ top ] At this event we are going to have speakers as well as debaters presenting to the student audience about issues relative to the Constitution, as well as smaller classroom-style discussions with the speakers and activities after that. The discussions will range from the different branches of government to our rights and responsibilities as American citizens and beyond, and the activities will include a game show (with prizes), a mock Supreme Court Oral Argument presentation, voting machine demonstrations, and more. Adjustments may be made.
Fees: There is no fee for online registration and in-class registration, though there will be a fee of $10 for registration at the event. See the registration site for more details. Food will be provided free of charge, but you should bring spending money for other items as well. [ top ] In-School Registration for Teachers If you are a teacher interested in promoting the conference to your students, we suggest that you download an In-School Registration Form so that you can register your students in class. Here's how it works: Print out and copy the form and distribute it to your students as you wish. Then, having them either do so in class or at home and return it to you afterwards, have your students complete the registration form, excluding the information at the top. Then, fill out the information at the top (teachers only) and fax the forms to 303.221.3309. This enables Liberty Day to expedite the registration process and helps to ensure that the students attend the conference without having to pay a registration fee. Though we will still accept in-school registration on Friday, September 14th, we ask that you send in any registrations no later than Thursday, September 13th. Though we ask that you please use this method of registering your students, if you do not wish to do so, you may still invite them to do the online registration, free of charge. [ top ]
The 2007 Colorado Constitution Day Celebration is a fantastic opportunity for you to earn college credit. We've worked with UCD so that, for simply participating in the event, producing one paper, and paying a mere $50 tuition, high school students can receive one whole college credit*. Think about it: for one day, one assignment, and one small payment of $50, you can get a whole college credit? Talk about a great deal! *Credit is in Political Science but still benefits students of all majors. Students participating in the event must sign the sign-in and sign-out sheets verifying their attendance and will have to write a 6-8 page paper (double spaced) on one of the topics covered in the event, drawing upon the information provided and discussed at the conference, as well as at least one independent source. Further details will be available for you at the event. You must at least participate in all portions of the event but the optional activities in order to register for the credit. [ top ]
