The Governor, Bill Richardson, issued a proclamation declaring March 16th Liberty Day in New Mexico. Senator Harden is introducing a memorial in the Senate and Representative Varela did the same in the House. 

The students met on the west side of the rotunda and went on a tour of the Capitol, met with Sen. Harden and went to the gallery for the reading of the memorial. 

The kids had on their bright red Liberty Day shirts, carried the Liberty Day canvas flag bag, and each had copies of the Constitution, the Q&A cards, and 'I got quizzed' stickers. They used the Q&A cards to help them ask questions of the public on their knowledge of the Constitution.
