Scouts present Liberty Day at Gingrich Book Signings
Local scout troop members attended several book signings by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich where they were introduced and allowed to quiz several attendees about the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence. As Gingrich traveled from New Jersey to Hawaii he introduced the scouts at each signing and autographed Liberty Day items for the scouts. Photos below are from the Iowa book signing.

Academy Optimist Club report May 1, 2007
on the wonderful Liberty Day Event!
The fifth graders from Helen Keller Elem were well versed in
the questions from the Constitution and the UCCS students were receptive
participants. The Vice-Mayor, the Vice- Chancellor from UCCS, and the founder
of Liberty Day, Andy McKean, were there to greet and support the kids. The 5th
graders felt that they had achieved their mission of reminding citizens of the
Founding Documents, and they were impressed by the University campus and the
hospitality shown to them. We had a fabulous lunch provided by the University
Dining Hall and the students were presented with certificates making them
honorary “Mountain Lions” as well as bookmarks that say UCCS. The day was a
complete success thanks to the members of the Optimist and
Sertoma Clubs and their support and help!
