Liberty Day Launches Web 2.0 - March 10, 2010
Liberty Day, a Denver-based national, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting civic education, launched a new website on Wednesday.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for us,” said Jimmy Sengenberger, executive director. “It isn’t just a website—it’s symbolic of the new direction Liberty Day is heading. We’ve made significant strides in so many ways over the last year, and this is sort-of a culmination of our developments.”
With an easy-to-navigate home page and menu bar, visitors to the new LibertyDay.org can locate up-to-date information on Liberty Day’s various programs and initiatives, as well as read news, watch videos and purchase Liberty Day’s range of educational materials.
“It’s a one-stop shop for everything you need to know about Liberty Day, our Complete Educational Resource for teachers, the various programs and initiatives we’ve got going on and so much more,” said Andy McKean, the organization’s president and founder.
Visitors are greeted by an informational video produced by Denver-based VIP Video Productions. In fitting with Liberty Day’s emphasis on nonpartisanship, the video features both Republican state Sen. Nancy Spence and Democrat state Sen. Moe Keller.
“The new website is program-based as opposed to state-by-state, as it used to be,” said Sengenberger. “This way, visitors can easily learn about the specific things Liberty Day is doing and learn how to get involved with our exciting array of programs and initiatives.”
The website was produced in collaboration with Bloomington, Indiana-based August Road Studios and was designed with 21st century principles in mind.
“Our goal was to help Liberty Day enhance its marketing efforts in reaching today's high-tech world,” said Jordan Warner, lead designer at August Road. “With each generation becoming increasingly connected to technology and the web, we felt it was important to provide Liberty Day with a web site that could serve as a platform of effective communication in today's world.”
LibertyDay.org is intended to provide partners and interested individuals with information and details about Liberty Day’s projects and resources in one convenient location. It is part of an expanded effort to increase public awareness about the organization, its activities, its mission and the importance of getting involved.
“By using social networking, streaming video and other new media technologies, we hope that this web site facelift will bring a contemporary update to Liberty Day's web presence,” said Warner. “In turn, it was our goal to provide them with a site that would effectively reach both government officials and youth who are involved in the program.”
Liberty Day hopes that visitors to the new LibertyDay.org will be inspired to learn more about the organization and to become engaged and involved with it.
“Last year we partnered with a host of organizations to distribute nearly 100,000 copies of the U.S. Constitution, with teaching materials, throughout Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Maine, Tennessee and elsewhere in 2009 alone,” said McKean. “As we continue to expand our successful endeavors, Liberty Day is excited to bring everyone news of these exhilarating updates online on our new site.”
